Educational Consultant
A veteran international school educator, Dr. Winnard has been a head of school for 19 years. After teaching and administrator positions in the UK, Bahrain, Doha, Manila, and Sao Paulo, he moved into school leadership. He founded the first IB World School in Sudan, where he served for 12 years. He then spent seven years as Head of the American School of Rio de Janeiro, where he led the school’s transition from traditional American school overseas to a two-campus IB World Continuum School. As a school leader, researcher and consultant, he works with communities to explore ways in which international schools can re-vision, articulate and implement bold visions of serving their students with fidelity in a world of evolving challenges, threats and opportunities. Dr. Winnard has a deep professional and academic interest in the ways in which international schools can recruit and retain the best leaders and teachers for their communities. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California and an MA in Educational Administration from Michigan State University.
