Secondary Social Studies and National History Day Coordinator
Asia American International Academy, New Taipei City Taiwan
Originally from the United States, I began teaching secondary social studies internationally in East Asia in 2013. In my classes, students do not just learn history, they engage in historical thinking skills and become historians in their own right, developing and honing their abilities to research, evaluate and analyze sources, and synthesize information. In addition to teaching, I have coordinated National History Day (NHD) student research, contests, and professional development modules at the school, region, affiliate, and national levels. I have recently contributed articles to the Daily Life of Women: An Encyclopedia from Ancient Times to the Present, and collaborated with NHD and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) on a Cold War lesson plan featured in Building a More Perfect Union.
