Kyra Kellawan

Futures Lead at The British School of Barcelona & CoFounder, Kokoro Careers

I worked in US and UK university admissions and recruitment before transitioning into college admissions counselling and teaching, in schools in the US, Costa Rica and Spain (también puedo trabajar en español). As a consultant, I have worked for The British Council, King's College London, The University of Sydney, the French Lycée in New York, Aloha College, BridgeU and Nexgen Careers as well as an ongoing ECIS association as part of the DEIJ team. Over my 15 year career, I have taught, counseled, and become an innovative leader. I am proud of building a global network of university admissions and guidance counselling colleagues, but proudest of the students I have served to help discover their innate talents. Passionate about diversity, inclusion, ikigai, social and purpose-driven careers, I Co-Founded Kokoro Careers in 2022, a holistic career and study support service for young people and career changers. My podcast, The PilotEd, champions disruptive and innovative educational models and people from around the globe. Some of my key skills are: • I’m an empathetic and deeply curious third culture kid who has an intrinsically intercultural mindset. I have worked within schools offering the IB, French Baccalauréate, US Diploma, and A-Level curricula. • I have a creative mind and am a lifelong learner. I love knowing what makes people tick, helping them find ways to innovate and grow. • I build warm, authentic working relationships across all levels in an organisation, from students to executive board members. • I love planning complex programming: TedX style talks, education festivals, open days, policymaker round tables. You name it and I’ve given it a go! • I am constantly upskilling my DEIJ facilitation skills, and have trained in project based learning, holistic education and coaching for leadership. I gained a Green School Educator certificate in sustainability education, and have led workshops on DEI and careers for social purpose in schools across the world.
