Larisa Mîrza

Head of Pastoral Care and Student Wellbeing , CELTA-qualified Cambridge Teacher

Heritage International School

I bring a depth of expertise and a strong passion for fostering students’ personal and emotional growth to my role as the Head of Pastoral Care and Student Support Services. My career in education began as an ESL teacher, then a Cambridge Primary Teacher, where I worked with young students for a number of years to help them develop their academic and social skills. I’ve understood the value of a holistic approach to education throughout my career, which has helped me achieve my current position. I’m dedicated to fostering an atmosphere where students can thrive both within and outside of the classroom. In my opinion, education should promote critical thinking so that students become active participants in the learning process and are inspired to challenge, investigate, and ask questions about the world they live in. By giving my students learning situations that spark their interest and encourage them to see difficulties not as problems but as chances to grow, I encourage them to become more resilient when things go wrong. As someone who is always learning, I stress the need for having a growth mindset. I show others that learning is a constant process that is full of new discoveries and deep reflections. This attitude feeds my love of teaching and pushes me to make a classroom that not only meets standards but also encourages students to be confident and interested in their own potential. I enjoy travelling to discover new locations and cultures while I'm not at work. Reading is another one of my interests, and I take pleasure in exploring a variety of genres, from classic literature to contemporary thrillers. I also love animals and invest a lot of time playing and cuddling with them. My varied experiences and interests have influenced how I approach teaching and helped me develop a profound understanding of the special needs and abilities of every student. Continually assisting our school community and assisting children in realizing their best potential excites me.
